Preparation Before Screening

What should you do before going for your screening?
Blood Test
  • Fasting is required at least 8 hours but not more than 10 hours before your appointment date.
  • The purpose of fasting allows blood sugars to stabilize for more accurate blood test results on the glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • During fasting period, you are ONLY allowed to drink plain water.
  • Do not take any medications for example: medicines for diabetics, hypertension, cholesterol and supplements (especially the night before screening) & on the health screening day. You can prepare them and bring it along as you may take them after your blood drawn is done.
  • If you are not feeling well, please postpone your health screening to a later date as illness and medications (e.g. antibiotics) can affect your screening results. Kindly contact us if you need to postpone your health screening.
Stool Collection
  • Collect stool sample either the day before screening or in the morning of the appointment.
  • Using the spoon attached to the cap, collect small amounts of stool sample (about a peanut size) from areas that are slimy, watery, or bloody and place them into the container.
  • DO NOT urinate on the specimen or into the collection container.
  • DO NOT allow any water to mix with the specimen.
  • For female – DO NOT collect specimen while having menstration.
  • In any case, if you do not have the stool container before hand, just pick up another container when you are at the clinic. If you are unable to collect the sample on that day, please arrange with us for submission later on.
Urine Collection
  • Your urine specimen will be collected on screening day. The urine sterile container will be given to you on the spot.
  • Avoid the first portion of the urine stream. This helps to reduce the opportunities for contaminants to enter into the urine stream. Then collect the urine midstream into a clean container, at least half a bottle.
  • For female please do not collect urine sample during menstration.
Pap Smear | Thin Prep
  • For actual test results, schedule your appointment 14 days from your menstruation or 5 days after the last day of your menstruation.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse 48 hours before the test.
  • DO NOT use spermicides, vaginal creams, lubricant jellies, vaginal medications or tampons two days before the test.
  • Wear a two piece outfit as you will need to undress from the waist down.
Seminal Analysis
  • One is required to abstinence from ejaculating for 2 to 5 days before the semen sample is collected.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for a few days prior to test.
  • DO NOT use a lubricant or condom which can kill sperms.
  • Semen samples can be collect at laboratory site or home.
  • Specimen should be collected no more than 60 minutes (1 hour) before delivery to the laboratory as the semen needs to be examined within 60 minutes after ejaculation in order to maintain the quality of the specimen.
  • Sperm are very sensitive to temperature. If collection is done at home, semen sample should be kept at body temperature (37 degrees Celsius). During transportation, keeping it next to the body. Semen sample cannot be refrigerated.
  • Semen sample has to reach laboratory at 1030hrs.
Ultrasound Abdomen
  • Do not eat or drink 6 hours before the scan.
  • Do not smoke prior to the examination.
Ultrasound Pelvis
  • Drink 3 glasses of water before 1 hour before the scan.
  • Drink another 3 glasses of water upon arrival.
  • Do not empty bladder.
Mammogram
  • Do not use deodorant, cream, powder of any kind on the day of examination.
  • Schedule your mammogram 3-10 days after your last menstrual cycle.
